The massive debris flow disaster that caused unprecedented damage in the Nepal-China border region is heartbreaking, with the number of victims and missing increasing daily. We offer our deepest condolences to those who have lost their lives and our heartfelt sympathies to all those affected.

Donations, initiated by Nepal's Prime Minister Balen as an emergency relief fund, reached approximately 2.3 billion rupees in just three days. And aid supplies from neighboring countries, including India and China, are also arriving in Kathmandu in droves. We "Hotel Annapurna View Sarangkot" has also made a donation to the emergency relief fund.

However, the recovery of the affected areas cannot be achieved solely through donations and aid supplies.

For the sustainable recovery of the affected areas, it is crucial to prevent the stagnation of Nepal's economy. Therefore, we, the tourism industry, which has been a major driving force behind Nepal's economy as a key industry, believe it is essential to actively conduct business activities, especially during this emergency, to prevent stagnation and decline in the Nepalese economy.

The massive debris flow caused extensive damage to the area between 600m and 1,500m elevation northside of Kathmandu, outside the outer rim of the Kathmandu Valley (2,000m to 2,800m elevation), and then flowed south into India.

As can be seen from the elevation, the capital Kathmandu and the debris flow-affected area are separated by mountain ranges above 2,000m elevation.

The cities of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur within the Kathmandu Valley remained unchanged, with no damage to infrastructure such as transportation, logistics, electricity and water supply. And hotels and restaurants in the cities also operated as usual.

Pokhara and the surrounding areas, located approximately 200 km from the debris flow site, suffered no damage whatsoever.

The Prime Minister, the Minister of Tourism, and the National Tourism Organization have all commented that a large influx of tourists will send a powerful message of encouragement to Nepal and its people (see attached flyer).
